Indian veteran actress joins Iran film

Indian veteran actress GV Sharada has joined the cast of Iranian noted director Majid Majidi’s new film ‘Beyond the Clouds’ in India.

A media report said on Saturday that the actress is sit to appear in a crucial role of the film which is said to be based on a brother-sister relationship that leads to many more interesting scenes in an Indian context.

Reacting to the news about her decision to join the film, Sharada says, "I'm so glad to be making my comeback after 15 years for a director, who I consider as a cinematic god. I am extremely thrilled and looking forward to working with such a phenomenal team — both artists and technicians."

This comes as Indian artists Malavika Mohanan and Ishaan Khatter have been announced to star as the female and male leads of ‘Beyond the Clouds’, respectively.

Internationally appreciated film producer, director and screenwriter, Majid Majidi started acting in amateur theater groups when he was 14. He graduated from the Art University in Dramatic Arts and then joined the Islamic Art and Idea Center of Islamic Development Organization. He starred in some movies such as ‘Justification’ (1981), ‘Two Sightless Eyes’ (1983) and ‘Boycott’ (1985). His first feature film ‘Badook’ (1991) won him a Crystal Simorgh at the Fajr International Film Festival.

This is not the first time the noted Iranian director has made a film in coopration with international artists. 'Majid Majidi employed big-name non-Muslims in his religious blockbuster Muhammad: The Messenger of God' to work behind the camera, including cinematographer Vittorio Storaro and costume designer Michael O’Connor.
